Mid-Week Gathering Update

November 24

On November 23, 2021, the CHBC Council of Elders met to discuss the latest provincial restrictions update that was provided on November 19, 2021. The conversation centred upon how to approach our mid-week ministries. Specifically, do we keep all ministry at CHBC online or do we allow for smaller groups such as men’s and women’s ministry to proceed for those who are vaccinated? Though for some, the answer might seem obvious, for us, it weighed heavy.

We very much want to allow our ministries at CHBC to be available to all. This is why we initially moved everything online for the past month while we awaited further updates. Our hope was that we could soon move everything forward without having to consider proof of vaccination. Unfortunately, this is not our reality as those restrictions have now been extended indefinitely.

Having sought input from CHBC ministry leaders and staff, and after consulting with our NAB BC Association Minister, Bob Krahn, it is our decision that we allow our mid-week ministry groups to return to in-person meetings that comply with current restrictions (masks mandatory, safety plan in place, contact tracing, and proof of vaccination). Worth noting, current restrictions allow for youth ministries to gather without proof of vaccination required.

To be clear, this does not include our Sunday morning services, which will continue to be live-streamed at 9:00 am and available throughout the week at your convenience.

This was not an easy decision to arrive at, but one we feel is necessary at this time. We believe that it’s important to continue pressing forward in the work that God has given us, even as we wait for Him to bring an end to this trial that we face together.

We value each person that calls our CHBC family home. Each of you matter to God and each of you matter to us. We count it our privilege to lead on your behalf.
