50th Anniversary Celebration May 17-19, 2024

We are pleased to invite you to join us in celebrating and reflecting on God’s faithfulness over the past 50 years of College Heights Baptist Church.

During the May long weekend we are planning a series of events. We encourage all those who have attended College Heights Baptist Church in the past or are attending at present to participate in the weekend activities. More details will follow in the coming months, but as a placeholder there will be three opportunities to join in on the celebrations.

  • Friday evening: Informal gathering where people are invited to stop in to CHBC and connect with old and new friends. Casual food will be provided.
  • Saturday evening: An evening event where people are invited to reflect on their own personal journey and experience of God’s faithfulness at College Heights Baptist Church, both past and present. Food will be provided.
  • Sunday morning: An opportunity within our regular service schedule to look ahead to where God is leading College Heights Baptist Church.
  • In order to assist with planning for the weekend, we request that you please RSVP here.

Please pass this invitation along to anyone that may be interested in participating in this weekend of celebration and reflection. All future updates for the weekend will be provided on the CHBC event page.

Do you have a photo or a memory to share? A 50th Anniversary Kudoboard has been set up. Access Kudoboard here.

CHBC is once again participating in the annual Citywide Spring Cleanup. We'll be picking up litter around our neighborhood on Sunday April 21st, after the second service. As with other years, we'll offer a quick pizza lunch in the basement, and then we'll go from there. Everyone is welcome to join! Besides the pizza, we'll also supply bags, disposable gloves, etc. Just so we can estimate pizza and cleanup supplies, it would be helpful if you'd let Randy Seabrook (randysea@telus.net) know that you plan to attend. You can email him or sign up in the foyer between services. There is no sign-up deadline, as both the pizza and supplies are quite flexible, but please do sign up if you can. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Prayers for family & missionaries

Dave & Crystie Tarr, Nordegg Chuch, Vision Ministries: There is so much news in the Tarr’s recent letter! Please take a moment to read it in the foyer. Here are a few excerpts: It has been incredible looking back a couple years to when Dave and I first began working for the church. It has successfully transitioned from a One Hope church to being under Vision Ministries; there has been a ministry/preaching team that comes on a regular basis to preach, the congregation has started taking ownership of the church and have become more like a family, and we have seen God bringing some incredible growth to people in the congregation.

We are so deeply thankful for His work here. The Church kicked off the New Year with Alpha. The first session was held on February 4th, and while it wasn’t quite how we had imagined it, the people who came were ready to dive deep and hungry for God. We did not expect that level of vulnerability and tears at the first Alpha when most people didn’t know each other! There were six people who came and another five who wanted to but were unable to come to the first session for various reasons. Dave and I could really use prayer for wisdom when to listen and when to speak. The spirit is working and there is also very obvious opposition. Please pray for clarity, discernment for us and freedom from bondage for the people in Nordegg!

We would really appreciate your prayers for workers/helpers. God has been providing in incredible ways but we also need the energy and more manpower to keep going. Dave and I are bi-vocational so we also have part/full time jobs and finding balance can be a tricky thing. Our little family is growing!! Meshach proposed in January and she said yes!! We are excited to be welcoming Jessica into our family in December!
