Church Clean Up
Please come to the church from 9 to noon on Saturday, October 26th to help clean up our church grounds. Bring rakes and gloves.
Trunk or Treat
On October 31 we are again having a Trunk or Treat event in our parking lot. Please see the attachment for all the details. We do need a minimum of 8 decorated car/trunks to make the event viable so please sign up in the foyer on Sunday to be a part of this fun event for our community.
Congregational Meeting
Please visit this page for details on the upcoming meeting. There is an agenda, previous minutes and a Deacon Job Description that relates to an elder proposal for improving pastoral care.
Live Nativity
This year we are performing the live nativity! For anyone who hasn't experienced this yet, CHBC does this over a couple days (December 20 and 21st) just before Christmas. Hundreds of people come from the city to CHBC to enjoy the show and hear about the birth of our Lord!
This is an excellent way to give back to our community and share the gospel. It also requires a lot of people to come together and make it run. There are lots of actors (young and old), a full choir, a team of techs running lights and sound. There are lots of behind the scenes jobs as well such as setting up the set, organizing costumes and taking care of animals.
This Sunday we will have a table set up in the foyer in order to share more information as well as a sign up sheet for anyone interested in being part of this amazing event.

Prayers for family & missionaries
The Missions Committee has received approval from the Board to partner once again with GAIN - Global Aid Network! From now through to December 15th our church family will have the opportunity to raise funds to support Church Planting in West Africa in 2025. There are three different amounts that will provide financial support for church planting. Complete details are in the attached proposal from GAIN. Our hope and prayer is that our church family will “go for gold!” and raise $28,000! Below is a snapshot of what each level includes:
· Bronze - $8,375 – This funds one year of developing and training Mother Church leaders in evangelism and follow-up and helps build 2 churches.
· Silver - $14,000 – Working with local denominations, the team will identify and train local churches to become Mother Churches in order to plant 5 to 6 churches This amount funds six months of salary for two team members who will use the JESUS Film twice in each village as well as the West Africa film series, Walking With Jesus and will help build 2 church buildings.
· Gold - $28,000 – This amount includes what the $14,000 does; however, the funding is for one year and allows the planting of 10 to 12 new churches and will help build four church buildings.
Donations are made to CHBC (see the bottom of this email newsletter for options). Please mark your donation “GAIN Church Plant Fundraiser.” If you have any questions, please speak with Rob and DaVerne or any one of the Missions Committee members. As well, you may email missions@mychbc.ca to request a phone call.
CHBC ministries
There will be a White Cross “Info/Intro/Work” session in the main downstairs hall on Oct. 26 from 1 - 3.
If you have worked with WC before, signed up in the Spring or at the recent missions event or just want to find out more about how to become involved, please feel free to attend. Everyone is welcome and sewing skills are NOT required. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Snow Removal
The CHBC Trustees are looking for one or two volunteers to help with snow removal around the church entrances following snow events this coming winter. You would join a list of other volunteers and be responsible for one week, no more than once a month. For more information please contact Randy Seabrook at 250-565-7906.

For concerns you would like a group of people to pray for here at College Heights Baptist Church or items of praise to share, please go to https://mychbc.ca/prayer-ministry.
