Pastor of Ministry Development

The Pastoral Search Committee is pleased to present you with a candidate for our new Pastor of

Ministry Development position. We invite you to join us in getting to know the candidate and his family when we host them at CHBC the weekend of February 20-22, 2026. An outline of that candidating weekend can be found below. Until then, let us all be prayerful in seeking God’s direction. If you have any questions about this process or the candidating weekend, email our Pastoral Search Committee chair, Mark LeRuez, at mleruez@me.com.

• Friday Evening, February 20 – The candidate and family will have supper with our CHBC staff and their families.
• Saturday Morning, February 21 – The candidate will have breakfast with our Council of Elders and be interviewed by them. After that, he’ll meet with representatives of our CHBC Board.
• Saturday, February 21 at 4:30 pm in the church basement – You bring the games, we’ll supply the pizza! Everyone is welcome to a fun, casual evening with their family. This will be your best opportunity to interact with the candidate on a one-to-one basis.
• Sunday Morning, February 22 – He will share his testimony and respond to some prepared questions posed by the Search Committee in both of our worship services. The structure for the morning is intended to condense the cumulative hours of questioning that occurred over multiple sessions by the Search Committee and CHBC Elders, into a format that gives the congregation insight into his spiritual and pastoral journey, and a sense for how the Lord has been preparing him for this next potential chapter of life.
• Tuesday, February 24 at 7:00 pm in the CHBC sanctuary – This special congregational meeting has been called by the church Board for the purpose of voting on the candidate as Pastor of Ministry Development.

Alpha

On Thursdays from 6:00pm-7:30pm, CHBC will be partnering with Cedars Christian School (and several other churches in PG) to run an Alpha Course. It’s taking place at Cedars Christian School. This is a great way to explore the Christian faith. For nine weeks, participants will share a meal and join for a conversation about life, faith and Jesus. If you are curious about Christianity, new to the Christian faith or interested in a refresher on the basics, this course is for you!   Please register using the link on our website so we know how many people to set up for! Also, we are looking for people to provide soup, buns or desserts for each week and you can sign up for that using this meal-train link. Please pray with us for God to change lives through this ministry. Thank you! 

Lost and Found

You can find any items you make have lost or misplaced on a table in the foyer for the next couple of weeks. Please collect your items, and anything remaining after February 1 will be donated. Thanks!

Cristyn Bergen, UNBC Campus Minister with IVCF: Cristyn’s January newsletter is attached. Cristyn shares “that after thoughtful prayer and conversations, the decision was made this week, for my health and Baby Bergen to go on maternity leave early starting on Monday. As before with Luke, this does not mean I will leave InterVarsity or student ministry. The plan at the moment, Lord willing for me, is to return to ministry next year April and to make it to Spring Camp with the students. Currently, our next steps is to talk with the doctor, to rest and to care for myself as we wait for the arrival of Baby Bergen.” There are several prayer requests in Cristyn’s newsletter. They need and very much appreciate your prayers!

Praises:

·    For some good conversations regarding 5-Day Clubs/VBS opportunities

·    Two children and a Mom thanked me doing the STEM Club

Prayer:

·    Pray that those whom I have spoken with about summer clubs, will seriously pray about reaching into their neighborhoods

·    Continue to pray as I speak with people about the summer opportunity for ministering to the children

·    Pray for the STEM kids to be courageous in sharing Jesus with their friends - knowing Jesus is with them - the challenge from a recent lesson

Nursery Volunteers Needed!

We are needing more help in the nursery in both services, but particularly in the 10:45 service. Please contact Joyel or Nikki if you would like to help in this ministry.
