Senior Bible Study

Most people experience injustice, tragedy, health issues, personal disappointments, etc.. Some experience far more heartache and burdens than others.

What are we to do with these experiences? Do they carry any meaning or message from God? Can we make any sense of them? As the body of Christ what is to be our response?

Come and join us for 9 weeks while we look at this topic from the perspective of trying to find meaning in the trials and tribulations that we experience.  Key teachings and insights are brought by Tim Keller, former pastor of Redeemer church in New York, who himself died of cancer.

We meet on Wednesdays at 1 pm for a time of worship, teaching and fellowship and coffee and snacks. Anyone wanting to learn from a wise bible teacher (Tim Keller) is welcome.

Men's Ministry:

Each Monday starting September 14 at 7pm in the basement youth room, the CHBC men's ministry invites all men to come together to dive into Tim Keller’s group study: “Living in A Pluralistic Society”: Judges, Daniel & Joseph. After great leaders like Moses, David and Solomon the Israelites lived in a spiritually pluralistic society. The society of Canaan was a mixture of pagan and believing peoples.

Today, as then, individual believers work and live among a great variety of gods – not only those of other formal religions, but also the gods of wealth, celebrity, pleasure, ideology, achievement. Come as we look at how we can follow God rather than the idols of our culture and society.

Study leaders will be Kelly Peter, John Nicoletti and David Bandurak. Any questions please ask David Bandurak at HDbandurak@gmail.com

Prayers for family & missionaries

Jeff & Sonya Kilmartin, NAB: Sonya has begun meeting with teachers here in Banyo, to get ready for the upcoming school year – just as many of you will be doing in Canada and the U.S. She is figuring out with our local school here how she will be involved this year. Among our least reached people groups partners there are many very poor communities, where parents and community leaders would love to send their children to school, but they do not have the means (children are not only required to pay a school registration fee, but also have to buy a uniform, and then purchase whatever school materials are needed). We have had a generous donor partner with us the past several years, and he has enabled many children to go into primary and secondary school. That support is not available this year, so if any of you are willing and able to help our children go to school, we would appreciate the aid. Please email missions@mychbc.ca if you would like to donate and we will provide the details.
