A Call To Prayerful Discernment
Dear Church Family,
Thank you to everyone who attended our recent congregational meeting and participated in the discussion surrounding the possibility of launching a Sunday evening service this fall.
As elders, we continue to believe that this proposal is ultimately about stewardship. The Lord has been kind to our church family, and we find ourselves regularly operating near or beyond our practical Sunday morning capacity - though attendance will now drop throughout the summer.
While these are wonderful challenges to have, they also invite us to ask an important question: How can we continue making room for our loved ones, neighbours, and others from our community that God is bringing to us?
Following our meeting, we are now entering a month of prayerful discernment throughout June.
At this stage, we are not asking people to make a quick decision. Rather, we are asking you to seek the Lord and consider whether He may be calling you to help establish a Sunday evening gathering as part of a launch team. Our hope would be to begin with approximately 50 committed adults and teens who are willing to attend, serve, and help create a healthy foundation for this new service through the end of the year.
We want to be very clear: if that level of ownership and commitment does not emerge, we will not move forward with a launch. We do not want to build something sustained by pressure or obligation. We are looking for willing participation from those who sense God's leading.
To help facilitate this process, elders will be available at a table in the foyer on Sunday mornings throughout June. If you are interested, have questions, or simply want to indicate that you are prayerfully considering being part of the launch team, we would love to speak with you.
In addition, we invite anyone interested to join us for an "Information and Prayer Evening" on Sunday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the church. This will be an opportunity to ask questions, hear further details, and spend time praying together as we seek the Lord's direction.
If you would prefer a private conversation, please feel free to speak with any elder directly.
Our goal is not simply to become larger. Rather, we desire to remain open — to continue welcoming, discipling, and shepherding the people the Lord entrusts to our care. We believe this next month of prayer and discernment is an important part of that process.
Please join us in praying for wisdom, unity, and clarity as we seek to follow the Lord together.
With gratitude,
The Council of Elders
